The Good Lord Bird:
On-Air Promo Campaign

The Good Lord Bird is a Showtime limited series based on the book of the same name by James McBride. It is based on the story of the pre-American Civil War abolitionist John Brown. The idea was to maintain a cohesive look throughout the promos and trailers by using b-roll footage from the series itself as its on-air package. The inspiration for the logo came from Spaghetti Westerns, and their unusual – sometimes modern – visual approach that tended to break away from the traditional wood type look so prevalent in the Western genre. The graphics are bold and fill up the frame and there is nothing subtle about them.
